wonder how tomorrow could ever follow today
6:30am, the earliest sunday i have had in a long time. i began the day somewhat reluctantly, as i had a 5.5 mile walk home, my ipod was at home and it was a humid 54 degrees. i couldn't however ask for a better start to this day. i had left my longboard at my friend's house where i had stayed the night, which would make for one of the greatest sunday mornings i have had in years. there is nothing quite like the stillness of an early winter weekend morning in the bay area. it was like getting the first line on a powder covered mountain. the weight of my backpack was a welcomed burden which made ride the most enjoyable workout. i quickly lost as many layers as i could ending in jeans and a t-shirt. the cool air cut through my clothes, but only fueled me to push myself faster down the road. there is nothing i love more than closing my eyes and feeling cold air run through my fingers and hair; it's the feeing of freedom. the ride slowly came to an end as i approached the last two (uphill) miles of my route. my bag became the burden i was dreading and longboard became useless. at 8 o'clock home couldn't have been more welcome, despite the fact that i was to begin working immediately on the ongoing project of staining the house..
now the reason for getting up so early: going to SF to the tea gardens and wandering the city for the afternoon with the best of company. my opinion of the garden is not the greatest.. i was hoping for much more especially after the $7 entry fee. the place needed a good raking. the rest of the day consisted of laughing at ice skaters, pizza and beer and swivel chairs. once back in berkeley, there was more beer and a group field trip to see black swan (a doleful story of an artist's struggle to find herself). the day was a most memorable one, and ended greater than it began.
so, tomorrow, what you got?
